This Summer 2022, the MODERN STANDARDS SUPERGROUP embarks on an exceptional European Tour from June 28th to July 23rd. The tour covers Austria, Denmark, Latvia, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. The supergroup features an international stellar cast of musicians Billy Cobham, Randy Brecker, and Bill Evans, Linley Marthe, & Niels Lan Doky.

The brothers reunited briefly for the first time in 10 years, in the Summer of 2008, at a sold out show in Tivoli’s Glassalen, where they were both given the Ben Webster Award. Since then, the brothers have been heard together only rarely and sporadically. For the final day of SOUND DUES 2022, the Doky Brothers performed a breathtaking concert.

The Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective (NLD IJC) will once again take up residence at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in 2022 to produce no less than six unique, exclusive and highly innovative concert projects. Niels Lan Doky will be playing at two of the concerts, with Modern Standards Supergroup and Jazz/Takes Supergroup.

On March 23rd the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective celebrated the start of Spring with a very special concert led by Niels Lan Doky, live from the Louisiana Museum in Humlebæk, Denmark. Tune in to the NLD IJC Facebook page to rewatch the concert.

Five years ago, the now legendary The Standard Jazz Club closed its doors i Havnegade, changed its name to the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective led by pianist Niels Lan Doky. But still to this day, guests at The Standard’s three restaurants often ask about the jazz club. Now it was time to revisit and relive the old club for the last time.

Together with Steve Rodby and Paul Wertico, Niels Lan Doky blew the roof off of Louisiana at the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective’s JAZZ/TAKEs series on 1970s Disco at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

Together with SOUND DUES and Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective, we are proud to announce the reunion of The Doky Brother with Niels Lan Doky and Chris Minh Doky as a part of SOUND DUES ‘22.

Last week from September 9-12, SOUND DUES filled the city of Helsingør with jazz as a part of the press launch event of the new music centerpiece in the commune. Niels played with some incredible musicians: from the breathtaking Lisa Nilsson live from Kronborg Castle with Mads Vinding and Albert “Tootie” Heath, to Manu Katché, Bill Evans, and Darryl Jones live from Stan Getz former Family Residence.

Once again the marvelous Mike Stern was as part of the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective’s JAZZ/TAKEs series but now at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The audience also got a special surprise since Niels Lan Doky sat in with the quartet to perform the iconic songs we all know.

Last week Niels Lan Doky toured Denmark with the MODERN STANDARDS SUPERGROUP after it having been rescheduled due to the pandemic and it was amazing and mesmerizing to experience and feel the energy from the audience.

In connection with Earth Day, we are releasing Niels Lan Doky’s album “THE STORY OF EARTH AND WATER” for the first time ever worldwide on all streaming platforms. The project had a rather exciting starting point. Pianist/composer/producer Niels Lan Doky and his musicians created this music suite based on leif.e.boman’s sounds extracted from earth samples, microorganisms and water with the use of emissions spectroscopy (a system used by geologists to measure mineral content) and other technologies.

To celebrate this one year anniversary Niels Lan Doky did a live-streamed concert from his home on Thursday, March 25th. He was joined by a special guest, the great and legendary drummer, Alvin Queen. Alvin and Niels have been close friends and frequent collaborators with ever since their first encounter.

As a result of Niels’ dualistic global citizenship , the music of Niels Lan Doky embodies a unique blend between Nordic reflection and melancholy - and American swing and tradition. His album “River Of Time” explores and celebrates this dualism and turns the synthesis of Danish and American culture into a fully integrated symbiosis.

We are very excited to announce that Niels’ two "American" albums that was recorded for the Milestone label and released in respectively 1990 ("Dreams") and 1991 ("Friendship") have now finally and for the first time ever just been made available on digital streaming platforms worldwide.

For more than a year now, Niels Lan Doky has been putting his reflections, contemplations, thoughts, scribbles, creative thinking, concerns, hopes, and meditative thinking in writing every Sunday for all his fans to dive and dwell into. From here and forward we will present them here in a consolidated format at the end of every month. For this month, Niels has touched upon how jazz will save the democracy, “The Banality of Evil”, and thoughts on the US election.

It is 18 days since Niels’ tour across Denmark ended, and during these difficult times, it could not have been more fulfilling to meet all the amazing fans, venues, and school students. We feel very lucky to have been able to successfully play more than 40 concerts all over Denmark. From local intimate venues in Struer and Marienlyst in Helsingør to major sold-out shows in Musikkens Hus, Aalborg, and Musikhuset in Århus - it has been an enriching experience and leaves us hungry for more.

From September 10th - October 24th, 2020, The Knight of Jazz will embark on his first national tour of Denmark in over a decade. “NIELS LAN DOKY 20/20” will visit 17 different cities across the country with his Danish trio playing classic songs and new cuts from his forthcoming album “River of Time” (April 3)
