EPICURUS
Niels Lan Doky opens Epicurus, a venue where world-class jazz, gastronomy, and mixology come together in perfect harmony.
Now open, this one-of-a-kind space blends live jazz performances with exceptional food and cocktails, creating an atmosphere where music is not just heard but truly felt. Every detail is carefully curated to transform a night out into an immersive journey - one that engages all the senses and redefines what a jazz venue can be.
”The Radius Of Now”
June 19 marks the release of The Radius of Now, the first single from my upcoming solo piano album, Mayte’s Dream. Born from quiet late-night improvisations for my fiancée, Mayte Garcia, the album explores the beauty of stillness, reflection, and presence through some of the most intimate music I have ever recorded.
What began as private musical moments shared at home gradually evolved into a complete body of work. Created simply to bring comfort and calm, these pieces were never intended for release. But Mayte encouraged me to share them, believing others might find the same sense of peace within them.
The Radius of Now offers a first glimpse into this musical world. Stripped of all distractions, it invites the listener into a space where time slows down and each note is allowed to breathe.
I hope you'll take a listen - and perhaps find a moment of stillness for yourself. Click below.
‘MAYTE’S DREAM’
SOLO PIANO
Niels Lan Doky returns to Louisiana Museum of Modern Art for Mayte’s Dream - an intimate solo piano concert inspired by his upcoming 2026 album of the same name. Originally created as a series of deeply personal late-night improvisations for his fiancée, Mayte Garcia, the music explores stillness, intimacy, and emotional presence in its purest form. The first half of the evening will feature spontaneous solo piano improvisations created entirely in the moment, while the second half presents solo reinterpretations of some of Doky’s most celebrated compositions. Performed alone at the piano in Louisiana’s iconic Concert Hall, Mayte’s Dream offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Europe’s most acclaimed jazz pianists at his most intimate and emotionally revealing.
“”
Spencer MotamedyNiels Lan Doky:
A generation younger than artists like Keith Jarrett and Pat Metheny, the pianist is one of the most acclaimed, prolific and unique jazz artists of his time. Renowned as "the best pianist of his generation" (Swing Journal, Japan), "fresh and provocative" (New York Times), and "one of the most important European pianists of the last 50 years" (El Diario, Spain).
“A very personal romantic sensibility. A melodist, with a deep and enlightening touch.”
Niels Lan Doky has graced the most prestigious stages globally, from Royal Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall, to the Blue Note and beyond, captivating audiences everywhere, and has collaborated with the greatest jazz luminaries, such as Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, Ray Brown and Darryl Jones, as well as classical orchestras like the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Copenhagen Phil.
Known for his compelling improvisations and melodic-harmonic brilliance, Doky stands as an exceptional pianist with a broad range.
Doky's new concert series, “The Radius Of Now,” showcases original compositions, as well as improvisational ‘Explorations’ - spontaneous, abstract-poetic creations that delve deep into the present moment, rendering each performance a singular and extraordinary experience that cannot be replicated.
His symbiosis of Nordic lyricism and romanticism with American strength and determination defines his musical identity.
Niels Lan Doky embodies a musical prowess in the league of jazz piano giants of yesteryear, and was knighted by HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in 2010 for his musical contributions. As an esteemed Bösendorfer Artist, Doky’s unparalleled tapestries of notes transport the instrument’s unmatched beauty to concert stages worldwide, inviting audiences to experience the sparkling storytelling within his music.
Aside from performing, arranging, composing and producing music - his work also include film director, author, venue owner and public speaker.
