Welcome to an extraordinary evening filled with the sheer brilliance of jazz virtuosos. On UN's International Jazz Day, the renowned Danish knighted jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky graced the stage at Musikhuset Århus, with Harvey Mason, Bill Evans, Felix Pastorius, Mike Stern and Mino Cinelu.

The world no longer seems to have the time and space to think anymore, let alone to make good decisions and conduct sound planning. So I have decided to TAKE the time and see if I can gather some fuel to make better choices and decisions.

Waking up this morning here in Elsinore, Denmark is a beautiful experience. It’s a glorious day with clear sky, bright sunshine and a bit of freshly fallen snow. I am reading some nice messages from loved ones before getting out of bed. But when you open the media, a different picture is being painted.

It’s the first Sunday of the month and I am home taking it easy and reflecting on the state of the world. Two topics have crossed my attention that seemingly are unrelated but somehow I still feel there is a connection between them. So, I will now take a closer look at them.

The JAZZ/TAKES SUPERGROUP just returned from a highly succesfull European tour. They covered Sweden, Finland Italy, Hungary, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, and Spain. The supergroup features an international stellar cast of musicians: Harvey Mason Bill Evans, Darryl Jones and the knighted Danish jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky.

This Fall 2022, the JAZZ/TAKES SUPERGROUP will embark on a musical journey based on one of the NLD IJC’s most successful concepts, the Jazz/Takes series. From Oct to Nov the tour covers most of Europe. The supergroup features some of the greatest musical legends of our time: Harvey Mason Bill Evans, Darryl Jones and Niels Lan Doky.

It’s probably safe to say that Terri Lyne Carrington is one of the best jazz drummers alive. It was so special to have Terri alongside her former classmate at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Niels Lan Doky on piano, and the talented and charismatic, Linley Marthe on electric bass. We got to experience a Jazz/Take on 1970s Funk.
