DOUBLE BILL CLOSING THE 2022 FESTIVAL
About:
In the mid-nineties, pianist Niels Lan Doky and his brother bassist Chris Minh Doky released two albums as the “Doky Brothers” on the iconic Blue Note record label. Both albums sold Gold and are among the most successful Danish jazz albums ever and yielded numerous domestic and international tours including Europe, Asia and the USA. The Doky Brothers disbanded in 1998 and both brothers went on to create impressive, prolific and enduring individual solo careers and both were knighted by HM Queen Margrethe II for their contributions to the arts. The brothers reunited briefly for the first time in 10 years, in the Summer of 2008, at a sold out show in Tivoli’s Glassalen, where they were both given the Ben Webster Award. Since then, the brothers have been heard together only rarely and sporadically, but now comes a rare chance again, not to be missed.
For this final day of SOUND DUES 2022, the Doky Brothers will perform a concert as a duo this Sunday afternoon. Following an intermission, an all-star show will begin which will feature highlights of some of the many exciting artists appearing on this year’s program, in addition to hopefully some new surprises too. The all-star finale program is currently under development and will be announced closer to the date.
This double bill concert will take place at the wonderful beach hotel “Marienlyst Strandhotel”, in their largest hall, Marienlyst Salen, and with a full service bar operating during show as well as intermission.
