"THE STORY OF EARTH AND WATER"

will be available on Earth Day 2021

In connection with Earth Day 2021, we are releasing Niels Lan Doky’s album “THE STORY OF EARTH AND WATER” for the first time worldwide on all streaming platforms, Thursday, April 22.

The project had a rather exciting starting point. Pianist/composer/producer Niels Lan Doky and his musicians created this music suite based on leif.e.boman’s sounds extracted from earth samples, microorganisms and water with the use of emissions spectroscopy (a system used by geologists to measure mineral content) and other technologies. Reflecting musical biodiversity, the music contains (aside from the earth-, water- and microorganism sounds) a natural blend of fully integrated musical influences, such as jazz, classical, electronica, pop, world and more.

Pianist/composer/producer Niels Lan Doky used leif.e.boman’s earth-, water- and microorganism sounds as fully integrated elements within this music suite that he composed and produced for UNESCO’s launch event for the International Year of Biodiversity in Paris on January 21st, 2010 where he and his international stellar cast of musicians performed the suite’s world premiere.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2010 The International Year of Biodiversity to raise further awareness on biodiversity, the urgent need to counteract its erosion and loss and the enormous importance of biodiversity for human development and well-being. UNESCO was a central partner in celebrating and implementing the objectives of the Year.

Reflecting musical biodiversity, the music suite (aside from the earth-, water- and microorganism sounds) contains a natural blend of fully integrated musical influences, such as  jazz, classical, electronica, pop, soul, r&b, blues and world.

“What a thrill that THE STORY OF EARTH AND WATER album 2010 is now finally becoming available for the first time digitally worldwide. The United Nations declared 2010 the "International Year of Biodiversity" and held a VIP conference and launch event at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris which culminated with a live performance of this suite at the Museum of Natural History in Paris on January 21st, 2010. I had wonderful international cast of musicians with me on this project including Youn Sun Nah (South Korea), Xavier Desandre-Navarre (France), Emil Spányi (Hungary), Daniel Nielsen (USA), Morten Ramsbøl (Denmark), Line Kruse (Denmark), Jean-Marie Ecay (France) and Anne-Marie Curry (Denmar/UK). We created this music suite based on Swede Leif E. Boman’s sounds extracted from earth samples, microorganisms and water. And my son Ken Linh Doky (France/Denmark) helped co-write a few of the pieces as well. This project had the toughest deadline ever, I was commissioned to do it in early December 2009 and had only about 5 weeks to complete it from scratch and we worked in the studio literally non stop, skipped many nights of sleep, and even worked Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. The CD arrived to the concert venue in Paris by DHL from the CD factory in Poland, just 20 minutes before the concert started!”
