MODERN STANDARDS SUPERGROUP Recap / Concert hall tour of Denmark
Last week Niels Lan Doky finally got to tour Denmark with the MODERN STANDARDS SUPERGROUP after it having been rescheduled due to the pandemic and it was amazing and mesmerizing to experience and feel the energy from the audience in every single concert hall.
The tour started in Musikhuset Århus with a two-hour-long set, then on Glassalen in captivating Tivoli, Copenhagen, and after that ending in the iconic Holbæk Jazz Club in the northern part of Sealand, Denmark. It was a great moment to see five living legends in their own right together on a stage performing new modern standards, all arranged by Niels Lan Doky. They took on the biggest pop hits of today and approach them as modern jazz standards, including songs by The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Anderson Paak, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, and the likes.
The MODERN STANDARDS SUPERGROUP features an international stellar cast of musicians that includes three of America’s greatest jazz legends of all time Billy Cobham, Randy Brecker, and Bill Evans, in addition to the French bass virtuoso François Moutin, and the knighted Danish jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky.
